10/21/09 07:03 am - College Life . . . at FIT

Well, here are my thoughts on college that I have come to realize yesterday.

Yes, I do really like FIT. And yeah, I like the people and the overall vibe. And maybe it's just the wiggy coincidence that it's too similar to my HS therefore I tend to compare the two. But here's my problem with college.

There's no tie between people.

That sounds weird I know (it's the phrasing). But I realize really that in college, people seem to other people more disposable. Like, well, it has to be because it's always interchanging whereas in high school you'd see the same people everyday really for 4 years. So you're more prone to not become very good friends with people unless you really went out of your way to see them. Which of course seems to be the case most of the time (you'd have to go out of your way eventually), but the shear notion that now that people aren't seeing each other everyday, they're more detatched. Or people have an excuse not to see you.

People fear change probably 80% of the time so they tend to stick to people they know. I would like to, but at the same time I would like to meet new people. But just because I do I don't want to be disposed of by people I knew before. I mean, what is the point in that? Who wins in that? Even if it's unintentional, it seems intentional but purposefully meant to look unintentional.

My point is, college will probably leave me very jaded. And to go along with the tide, I will probably have to toughen up and leave all emotions aside so when good-byes come, I won't care.

9/6/09 08:43 am - NEW (separate) BLOG

So I have a new blog, however, it's only a separate blog from this one. My new one is a fashion and food blog, so that's pretty much where all my ramblings about school (FIT), fashion coordinates, food musings, and food porn are going. The link is:

stilettosatthedinnertable.blogspot.com/

Yes, I know . . . its called Stilettos at the Dinner Table

I quite like the name though. XD So come check it out/leave comments freely~! I'll be posting there more frequently (me thinks)

7/24/09 10:53 am - Do you like short posts?

I want an old vintage car, but I don't want a driver's license.
The only solution is to marry a man with one, and then go pretend driving in it. Sport my little Jackie-O glasses and wrap a scarf around my head.

And so are my thoughts this morning. 8D

Aya has new headphones!

They are amazing! Big dj-styled headphones with gold accent. I'm sorry to inform, I am guilty for choosing headphones for fashion rather than function, because they sort of hug my head too tightly. But alas, good sound and that problem will fix itself over time, so I have no complaints really . . .

Also, a small picture of some gifts I got from my friends for my birthday!

I just wanted to show this picture because everyone got me something pink. XD I'm guessing this color just comes to mind when they think of me . . . oho, but I love pink so I am quite happy! I have yet to use those shorts underneath . . . but they are such a nice length! I shall use it soon.

Okay~, I shall post again soon!

(last spaz edit: Ju-ken is on the computer at the same time as me 8D)

7/18/09 01:36 pm - YEAHHHHHHHHHHH

The 3 truths of today:

1. Ju-ken is adorable
2. Taebo is hard after not doing it for a whole year DX D'oh!
3. Guacamole party sounds so tempting and fun, yet transportation fees make me not want to spend money. NADA. STUPID MTA STUPID NY GIVE ME BACK MY MONEYYYYYYYYY

7/12/09 04:17 pm - Legit Entry + Randomosity

I realized I really like both Japanese and English, and thus far, I have been dividing the 2 languages into separate blogs. My main reasoning is so:

- Most of my friends on LJ don't speak Japanese and I don't want to just keep typing things people don't understand
- If I wrote major English on my Japanese blog all the time, I would seem pretentious
- Language barriers!!!!!

The only thing is, there are just some things that make more sense to say in one language over another. I really have no solution for this though, because I could just keep two blogs, but I being the lazy person that I am would eventually stop updating one of them or both (like I did and am sort of doing now with my Japanese blog). So unless I wanna completely mix the two languages and re-write things in either language and then import my Japanese talking friends here, I don't think I can do anything. With that being said, hello~~~~~ =D

Aya is currently into these things:

- Fairy-kei (Anyone interested in doing it with me? =D)
- Neon colored clothing!!!!!!
- Ju-ken (since officially yesterday, but in my Gackt days, I remember thinking that crazy person with the beard was cool because he could play rock and classical bass instruments. The same went for You-san though)
- 「ペコリ」って言葉つかいまくりたいいいいいいいいい
- 90's pop
- tea and bringing tea on trips and buying tea from stores and teaaaaaa
- textured hair

6/27/09 10:07 am - The Fashion Show Rants

Okay, I just watched Episode 8 of the Fashion Show. I have so much to say, but let me start off with an explanation for why I am watching that show.

It's actually a really bad show. I contemplated continuing watching it after episode 1, but it's a reality show, and there's this thing about reality shows that you want to keep watching it to see where these people end up. But for me, it's really a filler until Project Runway comes back on air in September.
It's basically the worse version of project runway. They give the challengers these tasks and sometimes they have to work in pairs, making it really hostile and crazy. And then at the end there's a show with all these people, and the winning designs are chosen by the audience and then the final decision is left up to the judges.
I understand audience matters because well, whose going to buy your stuff (you know?) But the fact that they're so unaware of really the techniques and the overall background of the pieces is so bothersome (like, the piece I liked wasn't even chosen as one of the best three in episode 8).
Not to mention, this show is run by terrible judges. Okay, Isaac, I'm fine with. BUT KELLY ROWLAND???? She needs to just go away. She knows nothing, and what's worse is that she thinks she does. And the whole show with Angel was absurd. I understand that hip hop is a huge part of our culture, but it's not like she understood really what a B-girl was, and I definitely have friends who don't know what that is either. So for Kelly to get so insulted was just her own personal problem. And really, she doesn't bring anything new. She's a yes girl, that just agrees with people or says something is cute or states the obvious. I mean, COME ON.

The contestants are a different story. I really hate like all of them, minus 4 maybe, although like 2 of those 4 were already eliminated at this point. I HATE DANIELLA. I don't think she's original at all, and when she tries to be, it turns out bad. And the whole thing with her and Reco working together . . . she was the one with the pants and he eventually caved in, and then the judges said they didn't like the pants and so she says Reco didn't want to work with her. I wouldn't either she's so difficult and she thinks she's ALL THAT. When all she'll really be good for is working under someone.
The ones with actual talent are over looked or hated. I mean, they're jerks and super cocky, but still way more talented than the cliquey people who just stick together and ask each other advice. Be more original guys and hold you own. UGH.

Anyway, episode 8 upset me because Anna just tried to screw everyone she didn't like over. I mean, it's obvious she was choosing favorites. But you might as well just toss everyone up instead of trying to send someone home. Because as a result of that, she sent her friend home. I just hate the whole cliquey-ness of the girls that are left. It's vomit-inducing.

And Johnny annoys me. When he's doing poorly, he's like "send me home." When he's doing well, he's like "I care about the competition." Make up your friggin mind and stop wasting other people's time. You're really not that talented, you wouldn't have done that last challenge well without Merlin who sewed everything, and I was so down with Reco when he got mad at you. I agree that there are so many people who actually want to be there that ARE talented, so just get off the show already. Really.

By the way, Reco does bother me. He bothered me more in the beginning than now. But he actually has talent and he's actually good at executiting things and bringing in his own ideas. He's really full of himself, but at least he has the work to back it up. I think this also goes for Merlin, whose mouth gets him into things, but his skills get him out.

James Paul is my favorite as of right now. I don't know about him winning, but I definitely see eye-to-eye with him both socially and conceptually. He understands that you don't have to really choose favorites nor make enemies. I mean, he's chill. That's probably why he can get his work done (because he's not filling his head with more stress). He's also gracious and he respects the judges. Also, as an artist, I like his work because I have a bias in the sense that what he likes I also coincidentally like, so his work, if it reflects his interest, should also be good (to me at least).

Anna just isn't too memorable, so I have no real feelings for her. At least not any that I could write a long super rant about (other than what happened in episode 8).

That's about it for the Fashion Show. If you don't want to watch trash, don't start watching it. If you like bad reality tv though, I highly recommend it.

6/23/09 10:19 am - Long time No seeeeeeee

Okay, so today, I decided upon two things:

1. I want to cut my hair shorter.
I'm so stupid because after a while, I really wanna grow it out long and make it pretty. But I realize to have it the kind of long length I want would require me to wait and I'm so impatient about those things. Plus, my hair gets so big if I wait forever like that.

2. Save more money!
It's quite hard though to save money and have a social life, because rarely do people want to do things that require no cash. And even when you do, it's like "Oh, lets eat later," and then you use money anyway. But I'm the kind of person who hates staying in the house, so it's just so hard adding that all up. I mean, think about it:

  Like going out
  Social
  Human, therefore need food
  Shopaholic
+No job

Terrible Outcome

Somebody teach me the ways of saving!

5/30/09 09:42 pm - So I just found out

Livejournal, for some unknown reason, doesn't email me when people reply to my comments. SO, if I haven't replied to a comment you left me on my comment, than it's because I had no knowledge of it. I also don't know how to fix it, because I went to account settings and checked it, and everything seemed fine. So yeah, it's just weird. If anybody knows what to do, that would be lovely.

Also, I have awesome news~~~

This portrait I painted early on in the year got chosen for honorable mention in this art competition it got sent to. So it'll be put up in a gallery in Brooklyn~~~~~!!! I'm really excited, since I never enter art competitions and I never really hope to win anything. So this will definitely motivate me on any future projects I may have . . .

Lastly, tomorrow is Japan Day! I haven't decided on what to wear. I'll either dress up, or just go casual. Depends on the weather really. And last year, I stepped in a lot of mud accidentally, so I should be careful about getting dirty.

Suggestions on what to wear anyone?
Or better yet, what are y'all going to wear? =D

5/29/09 08:31 pm - Things I Want To Do

1. Watch Titanic again . . .
God, it's so good. I love mushy romance movies, and Leo was actually humble during this period! Oh my have times changed . . .

2. Clean out my freakish yahoo mail inbox. IT'S SO BIG (because I gave up trying to delete so much junk . . . *gets shot by Amy*)

3. Stop wasting money on food. I love food, but if I go home, it's free . . . so I should just not use so much of it. BTW, anyone interested in going to get some philly cheese steak? I'm craving it . . .

4. Speaking of crave, STOP craving so many things.

5. Stop staring at this kid in my gym class. He's not THE guy, but I can't stop staring at him because genuinely, he's one of the most amusing people to watch play wiffle ball ever.

6. Stop listening to LIES (although this can't really be helped)

7. Play more board games (play with me please! ><;)

8. Retain my youth! (Viva teen years!)

+5 points for guessing flavor.

5/25/09 07:35 pm - Ms. Corbin?!!!!!!!!!!!

ヽ(`ト  ´ヽ)

WHY MS. CORBIN DO YOU WANT TO KILL YOUR STUDENTS EVEN AFTER THE AP TESTS?!

Basically, I need to do this project that captures my "essence." As in, write some piece and present it in some manner that shows off who I am as an artist. But it's very hard to do, because the instructions are so VAGUE.
And Ms. Corbin is one of those people that likes things very particular. So, basically, if I don't do something that she'd like, she'd drop me, and as much as it doesn't matter anymore (grade wise), I would prefer not to drop for the last marking period. *sigh*

Lets focus on happier things though . . .

I really miss Japan. D; I won't be going back for a while due to:

a. Lack of a job = lack of money
b. Starting up college = new work

But I do quite miss seeing this:

Suburban Japan.

I miss the really good food and the little ocean nearby! Minus the fact that I'd have to cross a busy highway to get to that ocean . . . such a nice little place.
I also miss the shopping, the 100 yen shops, and the concerts! The sweat and the towel throwing . . . and late night shuttle trains. Oh I miss it all.

But again, on a happier note . . .

I did recently buy this top at forever 21.

It's really cute, and acid washed. I haven't figured out what I'm going to wear it with though (I was thinking keeping it drebbed down, or add some gold jewerly), but should come in handy for casual outfits or so.

5/24/09 02:20 pm - あやのちょー便利日本語レッスン!(My super useful Japanese lesson!)

Hello! Today I feel very . . . bored, so I decided upon two things!

1. I shall teach you all some very useful Japanese phrases (useful deemed by me), and what situations they are appropriate to use them in! Then you can go out in the world, and use them to your hearts desire!!!! ~(゜▽゜)~

2. I am going to go buy a hair curler, and then curl my hair nonstop for fun! やっほ~~~~~~~(にんまり)

Okay, so let's start!

1. あそこのイケメン、ちょうタイプなんだけど
Asoko no ikemen, chou taipu (type) nandakedo.
Meaning: That hottie over there is totally my type.
How to Use: Point to a selected hottie of your choice and say to your friend. Use in situations where a 胸キュンキュン hottie is near by.

2. このドレス・スカート、マジで微丈じゃね?
Kono doresu (dress)/ Sukaato (skirt), majide bitake jyane?
Meaning: Isn't this dress/skirt a really weird length?
How to Use: Apply when in a dressing room and trying on a dress or skirt with a weird length. Can also be applied to your own clothes, before fixing it.

3. 最近めっちゃ疲れてて、______をする時間がないや!
Saikin meccha tsukaretete, __________wo suru jikan ga naiya!
Meaning: Lately I've been so tired, I don't have time to do __________!
How to Use: Insert something you like to do in the blank, but haven't had time to do. An example could be something like karaoke, or keshou (make-up), or whatever suits your fancy. If it's already a verb, get rid of the (wo suru) part, and just use the verb + jikan ga naiya!
Use when explaining your tired-ness to a friend. =D

Okay, that's it for now. I hope you enjoyed my random phrases! Please use them appropriately and accordingly! ばいっちゃ!☆

5/22/09 09:37 pm - Wait, what????

This drama I'm watching is not at all ending the way I thought it would. The oddities!!!!!

She was supposed to get married!

Okay, so the main lady is like, around 40? Around that age in Japan, women find it hard to find someone to get married with. So this woman, Nanami, goes on this sort of self discovery journey thing to find a perfect guy to marry. On the other side, this woman who was married for many years is facing a divorce from her husband. She doesn't want to divorce obviously, so she tries to fight to get him back.

Conclusion:
Divorce lady gives up and divorces, but it ends nice. She decides to do it graciously, and he thanks her, and they still meet once in a while (because they have a son together anyway).
Nanami on the other hand had two perfect guys who loved her. But she gave up one for the other, and then! That guy decides he has to move on and marry someone else. And I thought he would come back for her but he ends up marrying this other girl! So Nanami ends up alone!!! NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU, I did not forsee this!
And the artist dude that's always joking about liking her actually does like her, but he's like 7 years younger and she doesn't take him seriously. So he goes to France after being scouted, and yeah . . . he'll come back someday.

But this just all ended sadly. D;

5/22/09 08:17 pm - ラブItem

私のやみつき・全然あきない飲み物ズ!If either of these are at a store, I'll always get them. The first one is an acquired taste I think . . . the citrus seems to be funky to some people. I love it though!
Honey lemon drink just . . . is love. <33333333333333333333333 I wanted to get some today, but 売り切れええええええ泣 (Sold out) TwT

5/22/09 08:09 pm - あやせはるかあああああああああああああああああ

She's so flipping cute!!!!

I love her. She's in so many good dramas! And she was really cute on Cartoon Kat-tun too! My friend was saying how she's cute, but she's not really cute.

HELLO, SHE'S ADORABLE! *spazz*

Okay, I just had to get that out there. I only mention her because she's on the cover of July's Non-no! *squee*

5/19/09 05:55 pm - Making a legit post . . .

Do you know what I really hate? JUNK MAIL. I swear, if I have to open another email from a desperate single, or something about colleges where I never applied to, or other stupid things, I will actually take this computer and smash it. Why Yahoo, do you fail at filtering anything? And why, do you fail to give me the important emails.

Please, yahoo users, beware.

On a happier note, I decided to make my journal actually have some content in it. So here is what I've been doing for the past few days.
